Hi guys, Ming Ming here. Have you ever tried some Chinese cooking at home ? Or perhaps you want to but just don’t want the smoke like stereotypes show Chinese cooking?
Today , I’m going to share a recipe of stewed chicken with dates and goji berries with you , which I always enjoyed when I was in China, especially in autumn and winter . The reason I prefer to it is that it’s easy to cook , almost smoke free , providing a nice taste of mixture of chicken , dates and goji berries. In a word , pretty good to taste in cold days.

Here’s the recipe:
2 chicken wings and 2 chicken legs
some goji berries and some (red) dates
(Chinese cooking wine)
Ginger
Rice pot (personally recommended, it also ok to use a normal pot)
Water
Soy sauce
preparations before cooking
1. cut the ginger into slices .
2. cut some cracks on chicken in order to help it get more flavor from dates and gougi berries .
3.Remove the fat of chicken .
3. Rinse the dates and goji berries and chop the dates .
4. Chop the tips of wings
5. Scold the chicken with boiling hot water(trust me, it will make it taste better)
Now, here we go 🙂
1. Put the ingredients (except the soy sauce) in to the rice pot.
2. Water level can be over the chicken.
3. Heat it up and put a little bit of cooking wine.
4. Remove the foam on surface of the soup when it’s boiling
5. Check out if the chicken is ready with a chopstick or fork. If cooked, the chicken can be stabbed easily.
6. Drizzle some soy sauce when it’s ready.
If your need a good rice pot you can get one cheaply here:
Quick Tips:
1. Cut some cracks on chicken, so that it would absorb more taste.
2. If you get a whole chicken ,separate meat from bones, and store the bones in freezer, and you can use them to make soup if you like.
3.Check out if the chicken is ready with a chopstick or folk. If cooked, the chicken can be stabbed easily.
4. Chop the tips of the chicken wings.
