Butter shrimp

Butter shrimp

No cooking stereotype now. Actually I got this recipe NOT from the so-called cooking secret but by accident. I spent some time in Akureyri Iceland in 2014, where was not easy to get the ingredients for Chinese cooking, but an idea flashed through my mind: why not cook with endemic materials in a Chinese way(stir drying)?! Akureyri is well-known for its coast and seafood and I got some shrimps in a super market and successfully made it.IMG_0643

Further more, I have learnt that some love Chinese food but dislike the sauce like soy sauce which quite essential in Chinese cooking, so, if you are not a fan of soy sauce, this recipe will also satisfy you with butter that can equally add some flavour.:)

Quick Tips:

  1. The reason I use a wok is to show it better how it works, and, of course, you can also just use a pot.
  2. If you want it to be quicker, so get some smaller shrimps, which helps saving time as well as energy.
  3. No need for extra salt or fat.
  4. Last but NOT least, if some frozen giant shrimps are too entangled to handle, letting them get defrosted in room temperature will be preferred rather than with high heat on a stove so that they won’t be overcooked before adding butter.

HEALTH NOTES:

1.As you see above, butter(many have salted butter at home) and shrimp are used, even though NO extra salt or fat are added, however, they both contain sound percentage of sodium so I will recommend this dish as a snack not main course.

2. Please consult your doctor if you are allergic to shrimps.
